The last report for the start of this year in Willowtree - learn what is planned for the Blue Moon tonight and the Midsummer festivities later in the summer.

SPEAKER_00

It's the end of the week here in Willow Tree Grove, and it's time for our weekly catch up. The heat, my dear listeners, has taken over my world and the world around us. Gods help us. It has been deathly warm out there all week. I can no longer deny that my time has come to return to my little cave of slumber until autumn comes back to us, bringing with it crisp winds and the turning leaves. So let us go over the preparations for the full moon tonight, and then over what is to come in the next few months of summer while I am away. Firstly, all the witches who are going to be partaking in the full moon ritual will be restricted to the flower meadow beside the old wood barn. Protection stones have been buried in the entire perimeter of the area against any and all non marked creatures. If you want to add yourself as a last minute edition, please come see me at the Roast and Toast any time before the sun sets, and I will inscribe your name into the protection allowance. I do apologize on behalf of all the witches who worked to power the protection spell. We did need to do quite a continuous bit of chanting that was commented on as annoying by certain people, so sorry for any inconvenience. Now continuing with the protections put into place, we have put some non-lethal, sort of eco-friendly wolf traps outside the bunker cottage, where all the sort of pregnant, invalid, housebound, or and also young babies will be. The bunker has been fed a very large amount of roast dinners, and is absolutely delighted to be able to contribute to the full moon celebrations. If any of the traps go off, the bunker will raise itself up as high as it can on its legs. And if any wolves start climbing the legs, it has been instructed to burrow. In the event of a burrow, please do remember to sit on any of the armchairs in the cottage. They have been hexed to secure you until the cottage is no longer moving. Now if the bunker's throat opens up, do not be alarmed, and just throw any of the provided snacks inside. It loves a good treat. On the topic of living buildings, the wandering pub, as you know, is not set to move until tomorrow, but in light of what happened with all the lunar energy before, the pub has been secured with reinforced silver chains in its current position. If it starts struggling, please vacate the area or use any phone box to call the elders. The phone boxes all have a seal of protection around them, so you can just hunker down in there, and you'll be alright. For our wares, the success and praise for the scent track trail that was set out by Elder Mildred at the beginning of the month. Hello, Artemis. At the beginning of the month, has fueled the dear old girl to set up an even more impressive sensory adventures for you all during this second full moon. Cormac teamed up with her to set up his blood dummies all along the track, and even allowed Mildred to venture deeper into the forest than usual to really get the wares running. Since there is a protection in place against any extra energetic wares, the witches at the full moon ritual are asked to fly home by Broomstick, or just ask Elder Pepper to blink you back if needed. Be safe out there tonight, and be sure to send some extra prayers up to any lunar gods or goddesses that you follow. Now to just jump straight into the events that shall be taking place during my absence. The community center will have all the information for all the new and full moons to come during my time off. But for the big events, I shall tell you what I know. Obviously, we have Litha coming up on june twentieth this year, midsummer, as you all might know it better as. It is, as we all know, the longest day of the year and the day that the Oak King and the Holly King will battle for dominance. As we know the Holly King will win the battle, slowly shortening the days until Yule. As usual, the festival will have depictions of the battle around town created by the students of both Little Willow and Grove High. I hear they're planning something particularly gory for the defeat scene, so I'm looking forward to a lot of pictures and potentially videos of this, please, and thank you. The town will be being decked out in yellows and golds, and those same colors of candles will be available at all the shops, to be lighted and placed around everywhere in town. Now with our very lucky addition of all new hives and new bees all around town, this will mean extra honey for all the meads and new meads, with the different honey types, and a veritable mountain of honey cakes. Now why is this important? Well, it's a day when the border between the fairy and mortal realm is able to be crossed, and the honey is the most distracting substance for lost fairies to be diverted back home safely. It will be recommended to take honey along with you on any jaunt, especially on a nature walk. Speaking of, a new nature walk will be made for everyone, hoping to draw in new power from different areas. Make sure you do walk it on midsummer day because it will be closed again afterward. It's a path that goes quite close to the mines, so it needs wares keeping eyes on all the people walking it at all times. It's not very easy to keep something like that open for a more meaningful amount of time, but it will be a nice treat. I have also been told that there is a plan to have a town wide potluck barbecue type thing that will be carried along to the very large bonfire to start it off with some delicious s'mores. The bonfire, of course, will be held at the peak of town in Mary Park, as per usual. We will, however, have a slight change as the tradition of rolling burning wheels down the hill does carry some risk. Our postmistress, Lara Lavinier, put her head together with Cal Smith during the winter ski trip that quite a few of our denizens partook in. They found a way to alter some slip and slides with some hoses and a lot of magic to create a fire dampening ramp along the far side of the hill. All the burning wheels will be thoroughly doused and soaked and collected at the base of the hill by this new system. Thank you very much, you two. Now, the work of the day still calls me, and I must away. Don't miss me too much, my dear listeners. I shall return when the wind starts to turn and the blackberries are decorating the walking paths. That's all for now, my dear listeners. As always, have a soft and safe week. See you next time here in Willow Tree Grove.
