Easter weekend in Willowtree Grove and the Pink full moon justified destruction of a hedgerow.
It's the end of the week here in Willow Tree Grove, and it's time for our weekly catch-up. It's been an unpredictable Easter weekend so far here in the grove, but we have counted our blessings for the lovely sun that has been present here and there, in between rain and hail. I myself avoided the rain at all the best times, having had a lovely forest walk and a trip to the Roast and Toast yesterday with my familiar, in the warmth of the sun, if not blown away a bit by the rather emphatic gusts of wind. It was the perfect start to a long weekend, and now I'm here with a thematically appropriate chocolate milk and some chocolate eggs. But before we dive into what the Easter festivities are bringing to us this weekend, let me first regale you with the happenings of our April new moon. The pink full moon that occurred this Thursday was bright and clear and beautiful. It's been a long time since I moon bathed, but I spent quite a while under the beautiful glowing orb just watching it. It seems the wares were equally enthralled, as there was a congregation of them at the peak of town. It was the full pancake pack, I believe, just watching and howling in full reverence. It felt like a prayer circle in its own right. There was a select few, however, that went a little more crazy. In an act that for a small while was wrongfully attributed to our dear Chessy Brand, the previous Pinafore Pilfer, but I will say our dress lover was innocent, there was a raiding of the haberdashery. It was broken into quite expertly for aware, no broken glass or anything, just a popped lock, and all the shiniest buttons were stolen. However, they were then found later the next day placed around town in different areas. A small ring of iridescent buttons in the hedge beside the corner shop, or post office, a small constellation of pearl buttons placed in front of the founder's memorial at the center of town, four shiny buttons placed in front of Sage's pages. They definitely seemed to be offerings of sorts, which led to the discovery of the young ware, who was the culprit, who shall, of course, remain anonymous. Their parents decided to purchase all the buttons and ask for them to be kept in place. This has been honored. An offering in primal state is very revered amongst wares, so all the buttons are still in place and can be admired by all. The Sage's Page's offering has been framed and hung up inside the supernatural section. Another ware situation was the devastation of some shrubbery. The Bracken pack did come forward to admit that one of their own was trapped in a bush after tussling playfully with another ware, and in an effort to aid their friend, they all attacked the hedge, and uh well, then they apparently also wanted revenge on the plant for allegedly attacking their pack member and destroyed the entire hedgerow. At least it was an act of solidarity, so good on them, I say. Now to the Easter festivities. As you all know, Ostara is truly our celebration for spring, but the wandering pub has always had a great love for this time of year, something to do with the souls that haunt it, no doubt. So, as it is wont to do, the pub wandered straight into the middle of town, and set itself down and called upon all the bunnies that would answer its call. The usual fencing and carrot traps were put out so that the town center became a sort of petting zoo delight, with a bunch of wild bunnies in pens chowing down on their favorite snacks. We were, however, in for a delightful surprise this year, as an unknown spellcaster bewitched the bunny snacks to turn the rabbits into different pastel colors for the duration of the long weekend. It was like a live action pips movie out there. And young and old were all very delighted. Well done to whoever you are. The Sunday market is currently underway, and it is going wild. I had to take a moment away from it all to make sure our little newscast continues on. My apologies for the delay as well, but I have been roped into far too many egg hunt setups. I was charged with developing a spell that can hide some eggs completely, but emit certain scents so that young wares can train their senses but also have their own little hunt. All the while, young Norman has painted a variety of wooden eggs along with a society of self-loving sorceresses. They all feature different willow tree landmarks, and some of the prime ingredients of their favorite potions that you can find around town. The community center features a list of all the eggs that you will be able to find tomorrow, so people can see what's out there and check off what they found after the start of the egg hunt tomorrow morning. In reference to the dimensional jumping of the hare, the animal, not the follicle, the youngsters from the Little Willow School have created portals for all the shop doorways in town. They used recycled mixed media for them all, and my personal favorite is actually Crawford's drapery portal that has been embellished with lanyards from all the school festivals from as far back as they've been using them, which I believe was somewhere in the 60s. I invite everyone to visit them, and anyone who can't come out that would like to see the portals, do send me a note, and I will have some pictures delivered to your house. Our little school has honestly been going very hard on the crafts this year, and I think soon the Society of Self-Loving Sorceresses will have some serious competition. Oh, also, speaking of the homebound witches, Norman suggested to do a randomized prize for the witches trapped in their homes. A very thoughtful young one, thank you, Norman. So expect to receive a painted wooden egg to your homes tomorrow at a random time, potentially delivered by a pastel portal jumping fiend. A happy Easter to all, no doubt. Also a small note, if you haven't gone to the roast and toast yet, though I doubt it, they at the moment have a smattering of Easter delicacies, hot crust buns, and different snacks and all sorts of egg-shaped treats. Other than the egg hunt, there will also be egg rolling, egg tapping, and different egg sorts of races that will happen throughout the day, but be sure to bring your wellies since the weather is extremely unreliable. Moving on to our darling Adelaide's premonitions, the predicted shower that dirtied someone was unfortunately during the setup of the portals in the shops by the little willow school teachers. One of the beloved teachers, Mr. Lantern, was just entering the haberdashery when some maintenance work was being done on the fire system. As if, with its own malicious intent, only one sprinkler at the front of the shop suddenly turned itself on and doused the English teacher with such force that he tumbled backwards, catching his foot on the edge of a planter, and falling straight into a pile of freshly planted spring flowers. We are all so very sorry this happened to you, Mr. Lantern. Luckily he was surrounded by all those very sorry people at the time, and received a complimentary hot chocolate and treat from the roast and toast, after a refreshment spell from Elder Willa, who was almost taken down with him as she was hanging bunting on the tree near the planter. The premonition for next week now. Someone is going to find a coin in a rather strange place. Very intriguing indeed. Personally, as a young witch, I had many a wild time, where upon returning home I found my change in some very strange places indeed. Blame it on a woman's fashion being so low in pocket real estate. Well, in any case, good luck out there, with coins and with your eggs. That wraps it up for today. Enjoy the egg hunt tomorrow and the continuation of this long, long weekend. That's all for now, my dear listeners. As always, have a soft and safe week. See you next time, here in Willow Tree Grove.
